It’s becoming that time of year to change out of those layered winter clothes and dive into spring! Instead of listening to the same old artists, these upcoming and rare electro artists are perfect to listen to while you catch some sun!

Grimes

Claire Boucher hails from Montreal, Canada where she left university to pursue her music career in 2010. Going under the musical name “Grimes”, her music is unique from the stereotypical electronic, hip-hop style that is popular on the radio. Her music is very melodic mixed in with some synthesizers and beats in the background. Boucher’s high pitched voice comes across as soothing and soft, though sometimes it’s so soft, it’s hard to understand her.

Grimes currently has three albums out, the most recent released in February 2012. This past January she signed with the record label 4AD.

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs has an album expected to be released May 2012. This will be their first album, after releasing EPs and singles for the past three years.

Dragonette

This small electronic band has been around since 2005, yet they recently gained attention in the mainstream music crowd with their hit “Hello” with Martin Solveig. Originally from Toronto, Canada, they relocated to London where they released their debut album. Dragonette appears on several tracks of Solveig’s 2011 album “Smash.” Dragonette’s music is spunky and the beats make you want to get up and dance!

Two Door Cinema Club

Two Door Cinema Club is an indie electro-pop band from Northern Ireland. They formed in 2007 but released their debut album in 2010. They spent 2011 touring to spread the name but they have yet to hit the radio waves. They’re currently working on their second album but their chief plans for this year are to head the NME Awards tour.

Their music is styled familiar to Franz Ferdinand and the Bravery but Alex Trimble, the lead vocals, has a voice you want to listen to. Their album “Tourist History”, which is the only one released, is catchy and easy to listen to over and over again.
